Financial regulators in the European Union said crypto exchanges should lose their licences if they are found guilty of breaking anti-money laundering rules in a major way. The suggestion comes as lawmakers near the end of a major piece of legislation called the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation or MiCA. This law will set up a licencing system for companies that deal in virtual assets in the 27-nation bloc.
